ABSTRACT FROM THE JURY REPORT
The work of Andrea Stultiëns stood out to the jury due to its well-structured and honest approach. During the graduation exhibition, she presented a documentary report about her birthplace, Sint Odiliënberg. She portrays the village with great love and conviction, resulting in a beautifully crafted photo book. A similar level of engagement is felt in her portraits from the series "In haar broedsel leert men haar kennen" (In her brood, you get to know her). She captured a diverse group of mothers with their children in various ways, providing a contemporary depiction of motherhood. Both series could only have been created through the trust that the photographer manages to establish with her subjects.
