Gerrit Rietveld Academy

The Gerrit Rietveld Academie is a small-scale, independent and internationally oriented university for fine art and design in Amsterdam (NL). A wide range of artistic expertise converges at the academy.

The Rietveld Academie offers a four-year bachelor’s degree programme that starts with a general formative year, the Basicyear, after which students can make an informed choice from twelve different specialisations, the departments. All the departments at the academy question their own disciplines and share an experimental approach to education.

Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht

Students who obtain a HKU certificate are qualified to start work at graduate or postgraduate level. They can take on an existing or new professional role in the cultural sector, media and education, and/or other professional areas in the creative industry. On our courses, students combine their artistic and professional competencies with active engagement in interdisciplinary options and in innovative and multidisciplinary practical projects.

Our focus is on the future and innovation. And we believe in the importance of forging links between artistic and creative processes and other areas of work, disciplines and hybrid professional practices. We want to offer our students and staff a stimulating and supportive learning and working environment. An essential part of this, in our view, is gaining research and entrepreneurial experience in challenging practical situations.
